Blackfire (Komand'r) is the evil, older sister of Starfire. Where Starfire is warm and orange-skinned, Blackfire is cold and purple-skinned (in cartoons/later comics) or visually darker. She was denied the throne of Tamaran due to a disability (inability to fly originally), fueling her hatred.

She typically wears darker, more militaristic versions of Tamaranean armor. Battles between the sisters are high-energy, involving "starbolt" blasts and hair-pulling brawls. She represents the dark mirror of Starfire's joy—a ruler ruled by jealousy and power. She is a recurring cosmic threat to the Titans.
