The Doom Patrol is the "World's Strangest Heroes." A band of freaks and outcasts led by The Chief. Robotman (a brain in a robot body), Negative Man (bandaged energy being), and Elasti-Girl form the core.

Grant Morrison's run turned the book into a surrealist masterpiece, dealing with Dadaism, imaginary friends, and sentient streets. Art from this era is bizarre and experimental. They are the antithesis of the Justice League—dysfunctional, weird, and fighting threats that make no sense. Collectors prize the weirdness and the emotional depth of these broken characters.
