Hamato Yoshi Original Art

Hamato Yoshi is the central figure of TMNT lore. In some versions, he is the owner of the pet rat Splinter who is killed (Mirage/Movie); in others (IDW/Cartoons), he is Splinter, mutated into a rat. He represents the old world, honor, and tragedy.

His feud with Oroku Saki (Shredder) over the love of Tang Shen is the catalyst for the entire franchise. Flashback pages showing Yoshi in feudal Japan or pre-mutation New York are crucial for collectors. He is the grandmaster, the source of the Turtles' skills and moral code.
