Jimmy Olsen is Superman's Pal. A cub reporter/photographer with red hair, freckles, and a penchant for getting into trouble. He has a signal watch to call Superman. The Silver Age Jimmy Olsen comics are legendary for their weirdness—he turns into a giant turtle boy, elastic lad, etc.

Jack Kirby used Jimmy Olsen to introduce the Fourth World and Darkseid, making his title historically significant. Modern versions emphasize his photojournalism and his role as the "everyman" who sees the weirdest stuff in Metropolis. He is the heart of the Daily Planet staff.
