Richard Rider, the Human Rocket. Nova is the premier cosmic hero of the Marvel Universe. For fans of sci-fi and space opera, Nova art is the gold standard. It features energy blasts (the Nova Force), high-speed flight, and interstellar backgrounds full of stars and alien armadas. The bucket-helmet design is instantly recognizable and looks fantastic in profile sketches.

The characters had a massive resurgence during the "Annihilation" event. Art from this era, particularly by Andrea Di Vito and Kev Walker, is highly prized because it represents the maturation of the characters from a "Spider-Man in space" to a war-weary general. There is also a younger Nova, Sam Alexander, whose art appeals to fans of the modern Champions team, often drawn by Ed McGuinness.

Nova connects the Earth to the Cosmos. He is a frequent ally of the Guardians of the Galaxy, often seen fighting alongside Star-Lord and Gamora. On Earth, he has been a member of the New Warriors (alongside Speedball and Namorita) and the Secret Avengers. His battles against the Annihilation Wave or Thanos provide epic, wide-screen action that demands display space.
