Oroku Saki, the Shredder, is the leader of the Foot Clan and the arch-nemesis of the Turtles. His armor, covered in blades, is a visual masterpiece of villain design. Whether in the gritty Mirage comics or the IDW run, Shredder is terrifying. Mateus Santolouco (IDW artist) depicts him as a martial arts god, moving with a fluidity that belies his heavy armor.
Original art of Shredder often features him battling all four TMNT at once. His helmet and cape create a silhouette that commands the page. The "Return to New York" storyline features his most iconic battles.
His rivalry with Splinter is personal—often involving the death of Hamato Yoshi (or being Hamato Yoshi's rival). He commands the Foot Clan ninjas and his daughter Karai.
