Description
"not all warnings are meant to be obeyed"
In this tension-filled and sensual scene, an anonymous female figure engages in a dangerous embrace with a roaring tiger. There is no clear fear in her expression—only a hypnotic fascination with the threat itself. Their closeness is intentional: an ambiguous power play where it’s unclear who truly holds control.
The beast, wild and unleashed, bares its fangs in a gesture that could be either attack or warning, while she clings to it with a mix of desire and defiance. Her body, covered in flowing, organic tattoos, becomes a visual extension of the tiger’s patterns, blending human and animal into a single, unified composition.
Artistically, the influence of Kim Jung-gi is evident in the fluidity of the linework and the ability to construct volume and energy without visible structural constraints. The strokes feel instinctive yet controlled, capturing both anatomy and motion with remarkable confidence.
The color work is especially striking: greens and yellows are not used for realism, but for emotional impact. The green spreads across the composition like an unnatural force, heightening the sense of latent danger, while the ochres and blacks of the tiger add weight and raw intensity. The woman’s skin, rendered with softness, contrasts sharply with this chromatic violence, emphasizing her vulnerability… or perhaps her boldness.
The intention behind the piece is clear: to explore the allure of danger. This is not a simple predator-prey dynamic, but a visual dialogue between instinct and desire—where beauty does not flee from risk… it seeks it.
Technique: Black ink and watercolor on paper.
