Spawn 32 page 02

My very first of many Spawn pages penciled by Greg Capullo and inked by Todd McFarlane!

This is the 3rd piece of OA that I added to my collection and it will always be one of my favorites. Its high-level summary of the Spawn mythos coupled with the twin towers in this spawn NYC cityscape makes this piece really special. Back in early 2018, I thought it would be my "one and done" Spawn Capullo/McFarlane page.

A year after I bought this piece I was lucky enough to have Todd McFarlane sign it on the Sunday of FanEXPO Boston 2019 (just before Spawn 300 came out, Todd had rescheduled his appearance from the Saturday until Sunday because he was busy sending Spawn 300 to the printer).

This Spawn 32 piece was the one that immediately expanded my horizons when it comes to collecting original art. I first emailed capulloart.com about the cover for Spawn 95 (it was listed for $8K) -- but I ultimately I couldn't rationalize it at the time (mainly because such an expense was a real shock for me being so new to collecting OA). SO rather than buy the Spawn 95 cover on a payment plan (hindsight being 20/20: that decision to not buy it haunts me to this day, alas...): I worked with Jamie Capullo (Greg's wife, who is amazingly helpful and kind, handles Greg's art sales) to find the perfect Spawn piece by Greg that was inked by Todd. After asking about the availability of various pages we quickly landed on this Spawn 32 page 2.

And ~5 years later, I now proudly own 19 of the 24 published pages for Spawn 32 and this was the one that got it all started. NOTE: I will pay a finder's fee for any help toward me successfully acquiring the remaining Spawn 32 pages!
