Tell us about yourself and what got you interested in drawing

My family used to have a bookshop, and when I was a kid, I had the chance to read a lot of french comic books (bande dessinée) like Tintin, Gaston Lagaffe, Boule et Bill, Buck Danny. I was immersed really early in comic art. But being an illustrator was never an option then, drawing was just a way to make real my other passions. I loved dinosaurs, so I drew dinosaurs. I wanted to become an airplane pilot, so I drew planes and comic pages about fighter pilots. And so on.

Who were some of your early inspirations?

As I mentioned before, the comics I read in my family’s bookshop had a lasting influence on my style. But I was also shaped by the point-and-click video games I grew up playing, like Day of the Tentacle and The Secret of Monkey Island.

The first time I was truly blown away by an artist, though, was when I discovered Moebius. It felt like a punch to the face. In that moment, everything clicked and I realized I wanted to become an artist and make a living from it.

Since then, I’ve been inspired by countless artists, far too many to name. But some of the most visible influences on my style would be Olivier Vatine, Bruce Timm, Shane Glines, and Kyle Baker… and many more. Like I said, too many to list!

What are some of your favorite projects you’ve worked on?

I’ve been working professionally for over 20 years, across a wide range of projects. I’ve collaborated with French publishers such as Bamboo Édition, Soleil Productions, and Hachette, as well as video game studios like King and Gameloft.

Over the years, I’ve worn many hats, comic book artist, character designer, concept artist and have created illustrations for children’s books, advertising agencies, and even magazines.

One of my favorite projects was a French comic book created with my good friend Jérôme Félix, titled Mort & Entêté. We had an incredible time working on it.

More recently, I had the opportunity to design characters for the animated film Pil, produced in France, it was a fantastic experience.

Favorite character(s) to draw?

I love drawing female characters. I’m not entirely sure why, but it’s always felt more natural to me than drawing men. My current favorite is Red Sonja, there’s something about her strength, her independence, and, of course, her red hair that really fascinates me.

Other favorites include Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn from DC, as well as Elektra from Marvel.

If I had to choose male characters, I’d definitely go with Conan the Barbarian. I’m a big fan of the novels, and Wolverine.

And outside of human figures, I absolutely love drawing dinosaurs!

What are you currently working on?

I’m currently between two projects, so I’m using this time to draw for myself and continue improving my traditional techniques. Colored pencils have recently become my favorite tools. I really enjoy the control and texture they offer.

At the same time, I’m developing a personal project and have started writing a story that could eventually become either a comic book or a novel.

What inspired you to start using Raremarq and what are you auctioning?

I was contacted by Raremarq’s team a few months ago to try the platform. Until now, I was hesitating, because I like to control everything myself. But I see more and more artists using Raremarq and its reputation is growing amongst the artist community.

I also believe that it’ll help me to reach a wider audience and people not aware of my work. And the cherry on the cake, the team is super nice and helpful!
