Tell us about yourself and what got you interested in drawing

Ciao, I'm Francesca Fantini, an Italian Artist who lives between Italy and the USA. I began my career as a painter and animator growing up breathing the art of my father, a painter by profession. My mom told me I started drawing before I started speaking. I drew everywhere...on the walls...on the table...even using my mom's lipstick. My family was patient with my creativity hahaha.

Who were some of your early inspirations?

Good question! For sure my dad, then there were a lot of influences in my life... as a child I drew Sailor Moon, so I started with a manga style. Then, thanks to my dad, I discovered all the painters like Michelangelo and Goya. Two of my favorites. I started to get passionate about comics, in which I'm completely self-taught. Some names like Phil Noto and Bill Sienkiewicz are artists I admire and inspire me. But I find all the creators interesting.

What are some of your favorite projects you’ve worked on?

Can I say all? Hahaha, Hmmm I think Stake, which I'm still working on. It's my favorite baby! I felt very connected to this project from the first script, but I really have loved them all. Another of my favorites is the collaboration with my husband in Can I Scream? Every project is interesting because, especially when you create interiors, it pushes you out of your comfort zone and you learn new things. It's beautiful.

Favorite character(s) to draw?

I'm a fan of dark, gothic.... so I will say all the Sandman universe, in particolar Death and Delirium, I also enjoy drawing Harley Quinn, Elektra and Catwoman.

What are you currently working on?

I'm currently working on Stake #8 and few other projects that unfortunately I can't say anything on yet... but I have a new cover for BOOM! Studios coming soon and an interesting cover for Sumerian Comics. Ok ok I can't say more, sorry.

Where can fans find you?

I'm almost on all social media platforms. Facebook, X, Bluesky, Treads, but the one I like the most and I use as my main is Instagram.
