Tell us about yourself and what got you interested in drawing

For those who don’t know me, I’m Will Jack. I’m a cover artist for DC Comics, Mad Cave Studios, Dynamite and others. I’ve been drawn to art since I was a child and always knew I wanted to pursue it. I also loved Comics as a kid so it’s funny how things came full circle. I remember copying Jim Lee’s X-Men art as some of my earliest drawings.

I studied classical realism at The Florence Academy of Art in Italy, where I learned traditional drawing and painting techniques using charcoal and oil paint. After focusing on showing figurative oil paintings in galleries for over a decade I started learning digital painting and eventually started doing comic covers around 5 years ago.

Who were some of your early inspirations?

I’m inspired by many current and past masters, including Jorge Jimenez, Artgerm, Ben Oliver, Jim Lee, and of course the great Frank Frazetta.

What are some of your favorite projects you’ve worked on?

My favorite recent projects have been my Pop Kill covers, which have been received incredibly well by my collectors. Along with that I’ve been really enjoying doing traditional art in the form of pen and colored pencil, which I’ve done a lot of recently.

Where can fans find you?

I often livestream the entire drawing process on Whatnot and Instagram. You can find me on either platform @willjackart.
