Today, we're excited to announce the launch of Direct Messaging -- a new, easier way for artists and collectors to connect, buy, and sell original comic art.
Ever since launching original comic art auctions and the ability to sell original comic art directly on Nerd Crawler, it was clear that there needed to be an easier way for buyers, sellers, and artists to connect. Whether it was negotiating prices or asking clarifying questions about a piece of art for sale, people needed a way to message one another that also respected each other's privacy. With Direct Messaging on Nerd Crawler, I've now made that a reality.
When making a messaging platform for original comic art collectors, I wanted to build something that was easy to use but respected the privacy of the participants involved. So, messaging on Nerd Crawler works a bit differently than other communities. Here's how it works:
- To start a conversation, you can either type the username of the person you want to chat with in the new Messaging section in your profile. Or, you can visit their profile and click the new "Direct Message" link that is next to the "Follow" link in a user's profile.
- As the sender, you get 1 message to tell the recipient why you're reaching out to them. Common conversation starters would be that you have a question about their original art or you're interested in negotiating the price before submitting your offer with "Make Me an Offer".
- After you send your first message, you'll have to wait for the recipient to accept the conversation to continue to send more messages so use that first message well to explain why you want to start the conversation.
- If the recipient chooses to accept the conversation, then you two can chat as much as you would like!
- If the recipient does not accept or ignores your conversation invite, then you'll have to wait until they choose to accept it.
By allow message recipients to choose to continue a conversation, we're able to create a messaging feature that is respectful of people's privacy and prevents users from being flooded with unwanted messages from the same sender.
Building Nerd Crawler has been an incredible journey, and each new feature we build is based on the feedback of our community. We hope direct messaging helps you all buy and sell more original comic art, and if you ever have any feedback or more feature requests, please reach out to us at [email protected]!
A valid shipping address and default payment method are required to bid.
Slide the bid slider all the way to the right to make a bid at the suggested amount. Sliding will instantly create a bid, and the next bid amount will be based on the current bid and the next increment:
You can create a max bid to bid automatically for you up to your max bid.
If a bid is made near the end of an auction, the auction end time will be extended by 30 seconds to prevent sniping.
By sliding to bid, you commit to buy the listing if you are the winning bidder. If you are the winner, we will charge your default payment method 24 hours after the auction ends, or you can complete payment early by visiting the order detail page. If your default payment method fails or you fail to make payment for an auction you've won, your account will be at risk of being frozen.
