Lake Como Comic Art Festival (LCCAF)–the one-of-a-kind comic art festival hosted on the shores of beautiful Lake Como, Italy–and Nerd Crawler–the premier marketplace for original comic art–are partnering to launch First-Spot Auctions: a rare opportunity for LCCAF attendees to claim the first spot on an artists commission list during LCCAF.
Founded by many of the same people who created Big Wow Comic Fest in California and Paris Comic Expo, LCCAF showcases the best of US and international comic talent in a relaxed and intimate setting. The festival boasts one of the most impressive line-ups on any continent, and this coming year is no exception as legendary artists such as Simone Bianchi, David Finch, Charles Vess, and over 60 more are planning to attend. With such an incredible line-up, attendees who can get their hands on a commission from these sought-after artists are sure to walk away with new grails to their collection.
However, getting a commission can sometimes take a bit of luck. So, to give guests the opportunity to guarantee their commission spot, LCCAF has partnered with Nerd Crawler–the original art marketplace with proprietary auction technology that makes bidding easy and eliminates the risk of auction sniping–to host First-Spot Auctions, allowing attendees to bid and win the first spot on the commission list for select artists at LCCAF.
“We piloted First-Spot Auctions at LCCAF 2023, and though they were successful, we felt there was a lot of opportunity to improve execution,” said Steve Morger–co-founder of LCCAF. “By partnering with Nerd Crawler, we now have an easy way for guests to bid, and because Nerd Crawler adds 30 seconds whenever someone bids on an auction, this means the winners of each First-Spot Auction will be true fans of the artists.”
“Lake Como Comic Art Festival is globally recognized as the premier comic art festival, and they are laser-focused on delivering a best-in-class experience for attendees throughout the festival,” said Chris Tung–founder of Nerd Crawler. “By listing their First-Spot Auctions on Nerd Crawler, we’re thrilled to be able to elevate the First-Spot Auction experience to meet the festival's high standards."

Winners of a First-Spot Auction must be attendees of LCCAF 2024, which runs from May 17-19, 2024, and winners must be able to pick up the commission in person at the festival. First-Spot Auctions are only for the first spot on the artist’s commission list, and auction winners will still pay the artist’s full commission rate in addition to paying LCCAF the full winning bid amount for this auction. The artist reserves the right to cancel the commission at any time, and if the commission request is canceled, the winning bid amount will be returned to the original bidder.

A valid shipping address and default payment method are required to bid.
Slide the bid slider all the way to the right to make a bid at the suggested amount. Sliding will instantly create a bid, and the next bid amount will be based on the current bid and the next increment:
You can create a max bid to bid automatically for you up to your max bid.
If a bid is made near the end of an auction, the auction end time will be extended by 30 seconds to prevent sniping.
By sliding to bid, you commit to buy the listing if you are the winning bidder. If you are the winner, we will charge your default payment method 24 hours after the auction ends, or you can complete payment early by visiting the order detail page. If your default payment method fails or you fail to make payment for an auction you've won, your account will be at risk of being frozen.
