I'm Chris, and I'm the founder of Nerd Crawler. I've been a lifelong fan of comics since the moment I saw X-Men: The Animated Series which led me to Jim Lee's X-Men then Brian Michael Bendis and Esad Ribic's amazing House of M event then Frank Cho's The Mighty Avengers and Savage Wolverine, and my love for the medium never stopped.
So, in 2022, I built a simple web crawler to send myself alerts when new comic art dropped online. I called it Nerd Crawler.
After speaking with artists like Frank Cho and connecting with collectors around the world, it became clear our community needed something more than just art drop alerts. Creators and reps need an easier way to create listings, get in front of their superfans, and sell their art online. Fans wanted a way to bid and win auctions without losing to bots at the last second, and both sides wanted a safe, secure, and modern way to connect.
With this feedback, I launched the Nerd Crawler marketplace in 2024, and in just one year, our community has helped thousands of artists, reps, and collectors connect. Through those connections, our sellers have earned over $1,000,000 selling on Nerd Crawler. This has allowed artists to save up to make major purchases like homes, pay their bills, and make priceless memories like throwing birthday parties for their kids. It's been one of the greatest privileges of my life to have built something that improved so many lives.
As we've grown, it's become obvious that we've outgrown the name Nerd Crawler. We're no longer just a crawler for comic art alerts. We've become the go-to marketplace for rare pieces from amazing creators so as we've evolved it's time for our name to evolve as well.
Nerd Crawler is now Raremarq.
Why Raremarq (pronounced "Rare-Mark")? “Rare” speaks to the uniqueness of all the pieces on our platform, and “marq” is both a nod to the “remarqs” that started it all, and an acknowledgement of the human marq that makes everything on our platform.
While our name is changing, our mission remains the same: build the greatest community of creators, reps, and fans in one marketplace that values rare products from incredible creators.
Alongside our rebrand, we are growing our team to allow us to launch new features at a faster rate and continue to build the best platform for creators and collectors. In fact, the rebrand you see today was the joint effort of a super passionate group of designers and coders. I can’t thank them enough for their help. And continue to check out our blog and site for announcements about open roles on the team.
As for the technical details, all existing nerdcrawler.com links will automatically redirect to their new homes on raremarq.com, but we encourage you to update any saved links in your bios, websites, or social profiles starting today. After today, you'll also begin receiving email alerts from Raremarq instead of Nerd Crawler so make sure you add [email protected] and [email protected] to your email address book.
Lastly, a rebrand of this scale touches every corner of what we do. We’ll do our best to make everything seamless, but if you spot anything broken or buggy or need help, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our team at [email protected].
Thank you for being with us on this journey, and we’re so excited to continue growing with you.
Best,
Chris and the Raremarq team
A valid shipping address and default payment method are required to bid.
Slide the bid slider all the way to the right to make a bid at the suggested amount. Sliding will instantly create a bid, and the next bid amount will be based on the current bid and the next increment:
You can create a max bid to bid automatically for you up to your max bid.
If a bid is made near the end of an auction, the auction end time will be extended by 30 seconds to prevent sniping.
By sliding to bid, you commit to buy the listing if you are the winning bidder. If you are the winner, we will charge your default payment method 24 hours after the auction ends, or you can complete payment early by visiting the order detail page. If your default payment method fails or you fail to make payment for an auction you've won, your account will be at risk of being frozen.
