San Francisco, CA — March 25, 2026 — Raremarq, in partnership with OLO Marker and Collector Cartel, has officially launched of Battle of the Artists, a new global competition designed to celebrate artistic skill, creative interpretation, and technical excellence in a format where the artwork takes center stage.
This inaugural event brings together an incredible lineup of talent, including Ryan Kincaid, Anna Zhuo, Ellery, Chris Ng, Alessandro Micelli, Francesca Fantini, Dario Arte, Franklin Vincent Ouano, Kevin Tolibao, Fabio Ramacci, and more!
With each round, artists will push their creativity to the limit, reimagining iconic themes and showcasing their unique styles, all while the community plays a key role in deciding who advances.
In a creative landscape increasingly shaped by speed, trends, and algorithms, Battle of the Artists returns the focus to what matters most: the art itself. Guided by the mantra “Best. Art. Wins.”, the competition prioritizes execution and craftsmanship over popularity. While public voting plays a role, it is reserved solely as a tie-breaker mechanism, ensuring that outcomes remain rooted in artistic merit.
Battle of the Artists is delivered through a collaboration between Raremarq, which connects artists with a global collector audience; Collector Cartel, which curates talent and shapes the competitive format; and OLO, which provides the professional-grade marker sets used by every artist. Together, this partnership ensures a professional, equitable, and high-quality competition experience at every level.
What is the Battle of the Artists?
Battle of the Artists is a structured, head-to-head competition featuring talented artists from around the world competing across a series of themed rounds. Each round presents a shared brief, challenging participants to interpret the same concept through their own unique style and perspective. The result is a compelling showcase of creativity, technical ability, and visual storytelling under equal conditions.
The competition follows a winner-stays-on knockout format. Artists compete head-to-head in each round, with every round centered around a defined theme. Winners are selected based on established judging criteria, advancing to the next stage while others are eliminated. This process continues until one final artist remains. Each round is designed to test different dimensions of artistic ability, from character interpretation and composition to lighting and narrative clarity.
To ensure fairness and consistency, all participating artists work under identical core conditions. Each piece must be created as traditional A4 artwork, executed in full color, and based on a shared theme for each round. In addition, all artists use identical professional-grade tools. This standardized approach removes external advantages and ensures judging is based purely on execution, interpretation, technical skill, and visual storytelling.
More Than a Competition
Beyond competition, Battle of the Artists serves as a platform for exposure and opportunity. Every completed piece will be showcased to a global audience, listed for auction on Raremarq, and positioned as a collectible work of art. This ensures that all participating artists benefit from visibility and market access, regardless of how far they progress.
Many art competitions reward visibility over ability. Battle of the Artists challenges that model by removing bias and standardizing the creative environment. The result is a format that highlights skill, craft, decision-making, and execution under pressure. It is a competition designed not just to showcase great artists, but to celebrate great artistry.
Let the Battle Begin
The first edition of Battle of the Artists launches Monday, March 23, 2026, with Round 1 challenging artists to reinterpret one iconic Capcom character in their own style while remaining instantly recognizable. Artists must also incorporate a creative twist, choosing between an alternate era, a role reversal, or an ultimate, corrupted, or ascended form.
Follow the competition, explore the artwork, cast your vote, and watch as artists go head-to-head in a format built to answer one simple question:
Who delivers when it matters most?
