Raremarq—the fastest-growing online marketplace connecting comic creators, sellers, and buyers worldwide is proud to introduce Collaborative Auctions, a first-of-its-kind way for creators to verify and earn from the resale of their original work.
This groundbreaking feature marks a turning point for creator-owned art in the physical world as Raremarq is the first marketplace to allow sellers to tag original creators, offer a share of the final sale, and boost listings through verified provenance. Built in collaboration with our community, Collaborative Auctions forge stronger connections between creators, sellers, and buyers, ensuring trust, transparency, and fair compensation for the talent that drives this market.
What Are Collaborative Auctions?
Collaborative Auctions give resellers the option to have their listings verified by the original creator. Once verified, the listing is promoted to the creator’s Raremarq followers, and the original creator receives a percentage of the final sale price.
With an easy-to-use experience similar to Instagram, sellers can tag a creator. Creators can counter a collaboration offer if they’re not satisfied with the proposed percentage.
Collaborative Auctions are also perfect for collaborations between multiple creators. If a creator worked on a piece with someone else, they can tag them as a co-lister and automatically split the earnings when it sells.
It’s like tagging a collaborator on Instagram but with real, tangible value for everyone involved.
This feature provides:
Authenticity for buyers
Credibility and increased earnings for sellers
New income streams for the creators we admire
“Raremarq continues to push the boundaries of what is possible in their marketplace,” said Frank Cho, Emmy-award winning artist and Raremarq Advisor. “As an artist, being able to earn additional income from my resold work is something I never thought possible.”
Pioneering a New Way for Creators to Earn
While marketplaces for NFTs have tried to enable creator royalties and digital verification, no marketplace has applied this level of creator-powered resale attribution to physical goods until now. Raremarq’s Collaborative Auctions combine:
Verified creator attribution
Revenue sharing on resale
Negotiable splits
Boosted exposure to creator audiences
And collaborative earnings for multi-creator works
“Since we were founded, the Raremarq mission has been focused on helping creators earn more,” said Chris Tung, Founder of Raremarq. “With Collaborative Auctions, our community can now continue supporting the artists they love by tagging them as a collaborator when they relist a piece while also getting a visible proof of verification that gives potential buyers confidence when they make their bid and purchase.”
In a world where we’re seeing resale prices hit hundreds of thousands of dollars in the aftermarket when the creator only made a fraction of those earnings on the original sale, Collaborative Auctions is a never-before-seen resale model that puts creators at the center of the aftermarket economy.
What This Means for Sellers
Sellers can now offer verified artwork, authenticated by the original creator and potentially command higher prices closer to direct-from-artist value.
Here’s how it works:
“When Chris and I first chatted about Collaborative Auctions, I thought it would be a great way to authenticate pieces in private collections before reselling them while also giving some of the earnings to the original creators,” said Grant Riddle, one of Raremarq’s earliest community members and active comic art collector. “I’m thrilled to hear that Chris and the team actually built the feature, and I’m excited to list my Thing by Saowee and Warpath by Alessandro Micelli as two of the first collaborative auctions.”
What This Means for Creators
For the first time, creators can earn not just when their work is sold the first time but every time they approve a collaboration on Raremarq.
To get started, creators simply need to sign up for a free Raremarq account. Once signed up, resellers can tag creators on the Raremarq marketplace in listings featuring their work. If a creator agrees with the proposed percentage share and approves the collaboration, they’ll receive a share of the sale. Raremarq also offers an easy way for creators to submit a counter offer on the proposed percentage share before accepting.
What This Means for Buyers
Buyers gain peace of mind knowing they’re purchasing authentic, creator-verified artwork, directly supported by the original artist.
The first wave of collaborative auctions are now live on Raremarq!
Ben Grimm aka The Thing from Fantastic Four commission by Saowee (Marvel Miles Morales: Spider-Man, DC Punchline: The Gotham Game, Boom! Studios Grim)
A Warpath commission by Alessandro Micelli (Dark Horse Leonide the Vampire, The Bones of the Gods)
An Original Pen Drawing in Ballpoint Beauties Slipcase Deluxe Edition by Frank Cho (Marvel Hulk, Savage Wolverine, DC Wonder Woman, Image Liberty Meadows)
From day one, Raremarq has been on a mission to help creators earn more from their work. With Collaborative Auctions, we’re proud to take that mission to the next level by empowering artists, supporting sellers, and giving buyers the confidence they deserve.
