Dejah Thoris Original Art

The Princess of Mars. Dejah Thoris is one of the earliest heroines in pulp fiction, created by Edgar Rice Burroughs. Visually, she is defined by her red skin and ornate, often minimal, Martian jewelry. She is a warrior scientist, not a damsel in distress. Artists like J. Scott Campbell, Frank Cho, and Joe Jusko have created definitive covers that emphasize her beauty and strength.

Dynamite Entertainment's revival of the characters has led to a boom in original art. Collectors look for covers that feature the alien landscapes of Barsoom or battles with the Green Martians. Her aesthetic is pure "sword and planet" fantasy.
