Kathy Original Art

Kathy (Kathy Matthews) is the tragic girlfriend of Stanley Ipkiss in the original The Mask (Dark Horse) comics. Unlike the movie character Tina Carlyle, Kathy is a grounded, somewhat darker figure. She witnesses Stanley's descent into madness while wearing the Big Head mask.

Her pivotal moment—killing Stanley to stop his rampage—defines the nihilistic tone of the original comic. She is the moral anchor who realizes the mask is pure chaos. She eventually passes the mask to Lieutenant Kellaway. Art featuring her is often gritty, reflecting the violent noir style of the early Mask books.
