Peevy Original Art

Ambrose "Peevy" Peabody is the gruff mechanic and father figure to Cliff Secord. He is the one who fixes the rocket (the Cirrus X-3) and keeps Cliff grounded. Visually, he is the classic grease-monkey—overalls, cap, and always working on an engine. Dave Stevens drew him with a lot of characters in his face, showing the weariness of dealing with Cliff's antics.

He is the technical brain behind the operation. While Cliff flies, Peevy worries. He provides the exposition and the connection to the aviation world of 1930s Los Angeles.

He has a respect for Howard Hughes, the inventor of the rocket. He is loyal to a fault.
